Nigeria’s Super Falcons have retained their 36th position in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, released on March 6, 2025. With 1,622.49 points, they continue to dominate Africa as the continent’s highest-ranked team for the fifth consecutive time.
Super Falcons’ Ranking History & Recent Performance
The Falcons’ best-ever ranking came in 2003, when they reached 23rd place globally. Despite a narrow 2-1 defeat in their recent friendly against France, their position remains unchanged.
What’s Next for Nigeria?
Next on the agenda for the Falcons is the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against Benin Republic in April.

Nigeria (36th) – Africa’s No.1
South Africa (54th) – 2nd in Africa
Morocco (90th) – 3rd in Africa
Meanwhile, Tanzania and Kenya made notable climbs, each moving seven places up after their WAFCON qualifying victories over Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia, respectively. Tanzania now ranks 145th, while Kenya sits at 149th. On the other hand, Tunisia suffered the biggest drop, falling 11 places to 89th after their loss to Kenya.
Global Rankings: USA Lead, Japan Breaks into Top Five

3rd – Germany
4th – England
5th – Japan (up after ‘SheBelieves Cup’ triumph)
Sweden, Canada, and Brazil all slipped one spot each, now ranking 6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively. North Korea and the Netherlands complete the top ten.
With WAFCON qualifiers approaching, the Super Falcons will be looking to build on their status as Africa’s best and climb higher in the global rankings.
